We wanted to give some clarifying information regarding SAHA Gates 1, 2 and 3 while the Nakia Creek Fire is a potential danger to the neighborhood.

The BOD has discussed the current situation with the Gate Committee (George Kinsey, Eric Johanson and Bob Pond) and have developed the following procedure(s) until further notice:  Gates 1, 2 and 3 will be in their normal operating mode until the time comes that any Lot/Road in SAHA is included in a Level 2 ‘Be Set’ evacuation warning from CRESA911.org (https://experience.arcgis.com/experience/19ce354ba5854fd1850e5aca55e4c534).  If evacuation Level 2 is given for any Lot or Road in SAHA, Gates 1, 2, 3 will be set to ‘OPEN’ and will not be set back to normal until the evacuation warning is lifted.

The L1000 and Livingston Mountain Road are obviously experiencing an increase in traffic due to the fire, presenting the very real threat of looting and trespassing if the gates are opened too soon. This was experienced by homes in Sandy and Estacada during the fire in 2020.

We understand the mix of concerns and opinions that everyone has raised. In order to address those concerns, we will continue to monitor the situation and will reevaluate this decision on Saturday or sooner if the weather conditions change (i.e. strengthening winds).

Respectfully,

SAHA BOD
